Peddar Road Apartment
Location Mumbai
Type Residential
The Brief
A top-floor apartment built around a central void, with full Vastu adherence required and an eight-month window from start to handover. The double-height void could easily have swallowed the plan; instead it had to become the element that organised everything around it.
The Intervention
The void became the organising principle — circulation, natural light, and material weight all resolve around it. A deliberately ornate powder room punctuates the otherwise contemporary plan, the one moment of maximalism in a restrained home. Layouts were reworked to satisfy Vastu without compromising the openness the family wanted, and the timeline was held to the eight months promised.
The Palette
Travertine and Italian marble, teak and walnut veneer, fluted glass partitions, hand-finished plaster, and brushed bronze detailing. A jewel-toned powder room in lacquer and stone as the deliberate exception.
